Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge is located on the railway line between Shanghai and Nanjing, in Jiangsu Province. It is located in the Yangtze River Delta and is geographically characterized by lowland rice fields, canals, rivers and lakes.

The bridge is approximately parallel to the Yangtze River and extends about 8 to 80 kilometers (5 to 50 miles) south of the Yangtze River. It crosses the northern edge of the population center (from west to east), starting from Danyang, Changzhou, Wuxi, Suzhou, and ending in Kunshan.
